The company was headed by the founder till 1982 and later by Mr. B. Ganapathi Pai as the chairman and managing director of the company. He was heading the company till 2012. Now the company is run by group of six whole time directors namely, Mr.B.Nagendra Pai, Mr. Ananth G. Pai, Mr. Subraya M. Pai, Mr. Anand G. Pai, Mr. Sudhir M. Pai, and Mr. Venkatesh M. Pai.The company is  famous for its brand of Beedies known as “30 Brand” beedies. Bharath Beedi Works Pvt.Ltd rolls out over 60 million beedies a day. The company employs more than 50,000 employees directly and an equal number indirectly.

Starting from a little shop in Karkala in Dakshina kannada District, the company now has a pan-India presence. The company also exports its products to over 16 countries & has won numerous awards & recognitions for its sterling record
